I hope these mood boards give you a taste of project metal. The images range from actual events to general vibes but all of it is meant to give you the overall feel of what I am going for on with this novel.
I’m working on my first novel which has a working title of Project Metal. Right now I’m in the drafting phase and getting to know this world and these characters is a ton of fun. The inspiration behind this novel is a variety of sources. A primary source is my love for music. The inspiration for the characters, events, and settings in the book are inspired by rock/metal music. Mostly from the 90s. Why the 90s, you ask? Well, it is a crazy time for rock music where heavy metal and grunge battled it out on MTV and on radio stations across the world. I also happen to love music from this particular decade and it is the time period that Project Metal takes place.
There are some exciting things that have come from writing this novel. First, what I think is pretty damn good playlist. I’ll be sharing that on posts via Twitter but also here on my website. The other exciting thing that I want to share with you while I am on this writing journey are some posters that will give you a feel for the dark fantasy / horror aesthetic you can expect from Project Metal.
I’m sure I will come up with other creative ideas that give you some insight and hints about this novel. I am planning it out as a trilogy, but I’m excited to share part of this wonderful world with you. For now, just a teaser to perhaps get you a little more interested.
The characters Nikki, Kyle, and Jess are from a small town in the Northwestern United States. All are high school students that encounter something in their quiet little town that is about to shake their lives to the core. This nightmare infused story proves to be a very big challenge for these young adults as they struggle to understand their surroundings, face their fears, and work together or die trying.
